You can purchase an organic seed-starting mix at most hardware or garden stores, or you can make your own. Here are a few sample recipes.

Seed-Starting Mix I

1 part organic potting soil

1 part perlite or vermiculite

Seed-Starting Mix II

1 part garden soil

1 part well-sifted organic compost

2 parts horticultural sand or a combination of sand, perlite, vermiculite, and coir

1 part well-sifted organic compost

1 part perlite or vermiculite

1 part coir
